Elsie Berneta Williamson

Elsie Berneta Williamson, of Angola, Indiana, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family. Elsie was a kind, caring and loving woman who was known to many as Aunt Elsie. When others would speak of Elsie they would refer to her, “as a really nice lady who deeply cared about others”. She was known for her volunteering spirit and reaching out to others in need.

She was born November 24, 1923, the daughter of Arthur and Isora (Court) Williamson, and grew up in the rural Fremont area where she graduated from the Scott Center School and was a lifelong member of The North Scott Christian Church. As a devoted member of the church she played piano every Sunday. Many of her volunteer activities were associated with the church and she worked for the Cameron Memorial Hospital for 29 years. After retirement from Cameron she continued to volunteer at the hospital in a variety of roles.

Elsie loved spending time with her family and enjoyed her many hobbies which included music, gardening, cooking, crocheting, and reading.

Survivors include, two nieces, Sharon and Harley Dodge of Angola, Indiana, and Shirlee and Martin Mitchell of Coldwater Lake, Michigan. Great nieces and nephews Lisa and Mark Veich, Brian and Lisa Dodge, Lynda and Jeff Kipp, Amy and Glen Kelly, Christa Dodge, Leslie Brown and 12 great-great-nieces and nephews, and one brother-in-law, James Atha of Fremont, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Isora Williamson, her nephew, Ralph Lindsay Williamson, and her one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Jane Williamson.

Calling hours will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Beams Funeral Home, with Rev. David Wilson officiating.

Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana.

Memorials are requested to the North Scott Christian Church or the Lake James Christian Assembly
