Eugene L. Holey

He was born on September 27, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to James R. and Carrie (Swartz) Holey, they preceded him death.

He graduated from Bedford High School in 1949. He was an all sport star and earned 10 varsity letters at Bedford High School, and participated in Basketball, Football, Baseball, and Track. He was honorable mention All-State in Football at Bedford High. In 2013 he was inducted into the Bedford High School Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed hunting and country music. As a youth he was in the Boys Scouts.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950, and served our Country for four years.

Gene married Ruth Helen Anderson on February 12, 1955 in Lambertville, Michigan. They were married for 59 & ½ years. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2014.

He retired in 1985 from the DuPont Company in Toledo, Ohio, after 35 years.

Survivors include his children, Linda (Mark) Dillistin of Tuscon, Arizona, and Steve (Valerie) Holey of Jenison, Michigan, five grandchildren, Drew (Jessica) Dillistin, Jonathon (Sarah) Holey, Matthew Holey, Sara Holey, and Daniel Holey, four step-grandchildren, Courtney, Sean, Chelsea, and George, and a step-great-grandson, Jackson.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, James R. Holey, Jr., and sisters, Lois Holey, Doris Coutcher, and Bonnie Hinkle.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
