

Gwen loved teaching children and was a very caring mother and gracious wife. The Lord gave her life when she was born on August 16, 1943, in Angola, Indiana, a daughter of Preston Morley and Lois Elizabeth (Eckert) Teegardin.
God gave her his promise of love and made her His own through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at the age of 12 in the Hamilton United Methodist Church, Hamilton, Indiana. Her covenant relationship increased with fervor until the day God called her to her eternal home.
On June 12, 1966, she married Roger Neal Baker in Hamilton, Indiana (who worked on his father’s farm and loved the land), he survives.
She is also survived by one daughter, Stephanie Marie, a sister-in-law, Karen Buskirk, a sister-in-law, Rosalie Joice Baker, a brother-in-law and wife, Robert Burl and Gretchen Irene (Wagoner) Baker, a brother-in-law, Richie Ringler, plus many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, a brother, Leon Teegardin, a sister, Joan Krohn, a brother, Owen Teegardin, one son, Jeffrey Neal Baker, and a niece, Lois Elizabeth Davis preceded her in death.
Gwen was a teacher in the Metropolitan School District of Steuben County and retired from Fremont Community Schools. She was a member of the Steuben County Extension Homemakers Merry Mixers Club, a member of the Fremont Classroom Teachers Association, directed several musicals for the Steuben County Community Theatre, was a member of the Family of God gospel singers, played organ for many weddings, enjoyed children immensely, and loved her work. She enjoyed attending Stokes Chapel United Methodist Church. One memory she held for life was the honor of marching in the inaugural parade in Washington, DC for Lynden B. Johnson. She loved directing the Fremont Community Band.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm until 6 pm Friday, July 5, 2024 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.
Funeral Services will be at 11 am Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana. Evangelist Scott Saltsman will officiate the service.
Burial will follow at Jamestown Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana.
