James Lynn Willms

He was born on July 20, 1945 in Howe, Indiana to the late Wilford and Opal (Thrush) Willms.

He attended Orland High School.

Jim enjoyed playing, and watching baseball and basketball. He also enjoyed hunting with his son, family members and friends. Jim loved going ice fishing with Wendy and others, and going to garage sales and looking for antiques. Jim also loved John Deere tractors.

He worked for Machine Rite Products in LaGrange and retired after 34 years. He also worked with his son, Tim, doing construction work.

Survivors include his son, Tim (Dana) Willms of Fremont, Indiana, significant other, Wendy Grandstaff of Howe, and her son, Aaron Grandstaff of Battle Creek, Michigan, brother, David (Linda) Willms of Orland, Indiana and a brother-in-law, Stewart “Paul” Mills of Springville, Indiana.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kimber Lee Willms, brothers, Norman Brooks, Norman Willms and Ronald Willms, and sister, Areta Chapin and her husband, Rex Chapin and sister, Janet Mills.

Visitation will be held from 4 pm until 7 pm Friday, June 12, 2026 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana. Kevin Burton will officiate the service.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland, Indiana.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to the American Lung Association or to Greenlawn Cemetery Association.
