At the beginning of the fall term in 1965, I entered a Ball State classroom and took the first empty chair ... which was right next to Jerry's seat. That was the beginning of a cherished friendship that has spanned decades!

Oh, how I shall miss picking up the phone and hearing Jerry's voice, "Is that you, Farmer Dave?" "It's me, Big Jer!" I would respond.

We would then chat about our international travels or politics or nothing or family. He sure loved his family!

"I miss you, Jerry! And I treasure the years of friendship that we shared."

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Christine, and with the children and grandchildren. You, too, hold special places in my heart!

May the comforting hand of Our Loving Father rest gently upon your shoulders.
