John Joseph King, 81, passed away on June 4, 2024, in Mesa, AZ. John was a long time resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana, born on December 5, 1942. John led a fulfilling life marked by dedication to both his family and his career. John graduated from Elmhurst High School and later attended Eastern New Mexico University. After college, he accepted a position at Lincoln National Life Insurance in Fort Wayne, where he worked until 1983. Subsequently, he founded King Limited, through which he engaged in various real estate and partnership ventures. Beyond his professional life, John was avid enthusiast of cutting horses, serving as both a participant and a judge within the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA). His love for flying also marked a significant aspect of the his leisure pursuits. Above all, John cherished the time spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought great joy to his life. John’s family includes his beloved wife of 58 years, Colleen McArdle King, his children Gerald J. King of Auburn, Dawn (Kevin) Cowling, and Kimberly Tarr, both of Mesa, AZ. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and also leaves many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. and Evelyn (Cronk) King, and brothers, Thomas M. King and James E. King. A graveside service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on July 11th at 12pm at the Covenanter Cemetery in Fremont, Indiana. All are welcome to attend.
