He was born on September 14, 1946 in Auburn, Indiana to the late Ralph and Mary (Reinhart) Noel.
John graduated from Garrett High School in 1964 and attended Indiana State University, graduating in 1968 with a bachelors degree in Industrial Management. He worked for International Harvester, Peterbilt Motors, Patten Electric and Dometic Corporation. He retired from Dometic in 2012 after 26 years of service. John worked mainly in purchasing and traveled the United States on Vendor Audits. He also trained new employees at the Jarez, Mexico facility. He worked the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale boat shows with Dometic’s Marine division since common vendors supplied both the Marine and RV industry.
John belonged to Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity while in college. He was an Auburn Elks Lodge member since the early seventies. John recently received his 50 year pin from the Masonic Lodge. He took up flying as a hobby in the early 70’s and held a private pilots license, single engine land. He had many trips for fly in lunches but always said they were very expensive.
John’s love of Lake James prompted him to buy an old lake cottage in 1974. He later married Linda Kasamis on October 10, 2010 and together they replaced the old cottage with a new home in 2013.
Since his retirement, he and Linda found a love for traveling. They traveled to many places including Hawaii, Alaska, Route 66, Italy, Spain, France, Glazier National Park, Yellowstone and New York. Every year they enjoyed traveling to Florida to see good friends and neighbors there. Summers were spent with John’s stepsons, Daniel and David and their families.
John’s father was a farmer and his mother was a nurse. John and his brother, David inherited the farm in 2000 and have kept it active until the present day.
John also had a love for boating and snowmobiling in his younger years, and recently used his ATV for snow plowing and touring the neighborhood. He kept in touch with old fraternity brothers and Garrett classmates. He was a member of the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes Church.
John especially adored his wife Linda, the farm, Lake James and the Florida Keys.
