He was born on September 3, 1934 in Angola, Indiana to Virgil and Mildred (Birchman) Wilcox.
John graduated from Angola High School in 1955. He served in the Army National Guard.
John later moved to Blackford County, Indiana from Fremont, Indiana in 1997. He formerly was an eagle scout, and a volunteer fireman for the Fremont Fire Department. He retired from Dacra Glass, and also had worked for Pokagon State Park. His hobbies included making Indiana items, such as belts from leather, and dream catchers.
Survivors include four sons, Richard Wilcox, Chris Wilcox, and Jon Charles Wilcox, all of Sturgis, Michigan, and Travis Wilcox of Houston, Texas, three daughters, Theresa Tabisula of Carson City, Nevada, Carla Foster of Howe, Indiana, and Bernadette Wilcox of San Antonio, Texas, a brother, William “Bill” (Sharon) Wilcox of Angola, Indiana, seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, four great- great-grandchildren, three stepsons, and a stepdaughter.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Madonna Wilcox, two daughters, Karen Ragunton of Hawaii, and Phyllis Rummler of Michigan, a son, Larry Wilcox, of Sturgis, Michigan, and two grandchildren, Jason Lee Wilcox, and Andrea Marie Wilcox, of Texas.
Memorial Services will be held at 1 pm Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Pastor Rodger Strong officiating.
Burial will follow the Memorial Service at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Angola, Indiana.
Memorial donations in his memory are requested to the Fremont Fire Department.
