Juaketa L. Stout passed away, Wednesday, October 15, 2014, with family by her side. She was ninety-one years of age. She was the daughter of Orval Franklin Dugan and Zetta Fern Crawford-Dugan. Juaketa was originally from Oaktown, Knox County, Indiana, but relocated to Indianapolis, where she met and married Ralph E. Stout, her husband of forty-five years, until his passing in 1989. She worked for over twenty years in the Indianapolis Public School System, at School 45, as a reading tutor for underprivileged children.
She was a strong Christian, who owned a well worn Bible. She was a proud American who lived through the Great Depression and was a war bride during the Second World War. She was a loving wife and mother to her three Sons, Allen R. Stout, of Fremont, Indiana, James W. Stout of Kendallville, Indiana and Gregory L. Stout of Dover, Florida, her Daughter’s-In-Law, Linda Stout and Katherine Stout, her nine Grandchildren, Rebecca Null, Sarah Ashley, Aaron Stout, Anna Fair, Matthew Stout, Lindsey Stout, Michael Stout, Daniel Stout and Jennifer Ihland, and their spouses, Robert Null, Mark Ashley, Scott Fair, Kim Stout, and Chris Ihland. She lived to McKenzie, Olivia, Carter and Alex Null, Madeline Ashley, Katie and Jacob Fair, Caleb, Addison and Kyleigh Stout, Jackson and Adam Stout, Elizabeth Oliver, Zoe Stout, Aiden and Blake Ihland.
Above all, her family mattered most to her. She was happiest when she was with any or all family members. She made personal sacrifices in her life that paved the way for her three sons to become college graduates. A formal education was paramount to her. She loved music, played piano, and sang in a church choir or around the house, her entire lifetime. To quote Linda Stout, “She was the forerunner of Pinterest,” clipping articles and stories of interest to her, and then sending them along to her family.
On behalf of the entire Stout family, we thank our friends, colleagues and associates for their outpouring of kindness and support during this most difficult of times.
Mark Twain once said, “Let us endeavor to so live that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.” That is Juaketa Stout.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 am Monday, October 20, 2014 at Arlington East Hill Cemetery, Arlington, Indiana, with Pastor Gary Holt officiating.
