

He was born November 2, 1926 in Waterloo, Indiana, the son of Lawrence E. and Cora Elizabeth (Riser) Marckel. They preceded him in death.
He attended Waterloo, Fort Wayne, and New Haven schools.
He was a United States Navy WW II veteran, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Area, in the Sea Bee’s unit.
He was a 50-year member of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257.
He was the longtime owner and operator of Dick’s Radiator Clinic on Marshall Street, Coldwater, Michigan. He formerly had a junkyard, and worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a longtime race car driver, and raced at many area tracks including, Butler, Quincy, Jackson, Toledo, and Fort Wayne. He was a NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. race fan. He enjoyed traveling and driving his Model T cars. He loved the outdoors, and his cabin in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan at DeTour, Michigan.
Survivors include wife, Betty Lou Marckel, Fremont, Indiana; three sons, Dick Jr. and Ronda Marckel of Fremont, Indiana,
Michael and Brenda Marckel of Angola, Indiana, and Scott and Debra Marckel of Fremont, Indiana; five grandchildren, Heather, Melissa, Brittany, Jordan and Josh; four great-grandchildren, Bree Ann, Brooklyn, Kylie and Lane; and a sister, Betty and William Evans of Fremont, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five half sisters and half brothers.
