LeRoy J. Huss

LeRoy was born May 31, 1936 in Fremont, Indiana to Clarence Oliver Huss and Opal Irene Huss. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1955 attending in the same building as his father and oldest son. While serving in the US Army and stationed at Fort Campbell, KY, he met his wife Sylvia May Jones while on a leave with a friend. LeRoy and Sylvia married on October 3rd, 1959 in McKenzie, TN and set up life in Fremont, IN. LeRoy and Sylvia owned and operated a dairy farm and LeRoy drove bus and worked at the bus barn. In 2003, they became snow birds and split their time between Fremont, IN. and Palmetto, FL.

He was a hardworking farmer and loving/caring father and husband. He drove multiple generations of kids to school and animals/kids/people loved LeRoy. He was up before dawn to milk the cattle, would then drive school bus, work in the field, drive the school bus again, milk the cows again, and then come in for a family dinner. Now that is hard work and thru all that he kept a good attitude. He cared for the kids while Sylvia was at work. He loved his wife dearly and was a devoted father.

He is survived by his brother Lanny Huss and sister Linda Maldeney. He is also survived by his children Jeff (Lee Ann) Huss of McCordsville, Indiana, Craig (Judi) Huss of San Pedro, California, and Robin (Tom) Lisk of Mukilteo, Washington. He has four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A 10:30am graveside service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Fremont, IN on September 30th, 2023.

Rev. Jon Bruney will officiate the service. Military Honors will be provided by members of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257 Colorguard and the US Army Military Honor Team.
