Mark graduated from Prairie Heights High School in 1975. He attended the Dairy Management Program at the University of Wisconsin and returned to this family farm in 1976. Mark was a 10 year 4-H member showing dairy, horses, and swine. He was club leader within Steuben 4-H programs, a member of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, a leader in the Indiana Holstein Association, and a past member of the Steuben County Co-Op board. Mark loved being outdoors, fishing, camping, and tinkering with different outdoor projects. Mark always started his day with the morning farm report, devotions, and coffee.
Mark had a life long passion for breeding quality dairy cattle. He and Wanita started farming in Angola in 1987. They worked alongside each other raising their family, farming the land, and building a quality heard of holstein cattle. Due to health issues, Mark began working off the farm starting in 1997 for Noba/CRI as a bovine reproduction sales representative. During these years they continued to develop a small herd. In 2002, he took a position at Semex, USA as a district sales representative until his retirement in 2021. There were many relationships, friendships, and successes for Mark in the dairy industry.
Mark grew up knowing Jesus. His faith and relationship with Christ strengthened with challenges he faced over the years. He was a member Fairview Missionary Church and their men’s bible study fellowship. He enjoyed meeting with his prayer group over breakfast or coffee and sharing his faith and journey with the Lord. Mark's one wish is that people know and have a relationship with our Lord and Savior, so we can all be reunited again someday in Heaven.
