

She was born on April 14, 1919, in Camden, Hillsdale County, Michigan, to Bert and Flossie (Hoolihan) Salsbury.
Muriel married John Lawrence Penner on February 29, 1936.
She retired as Post Master in Ray after 28 years of service.
She attended school in Montgomery, Michigan, until 10th grade and graduated from Fremont High School in 1936.
She enjoyed farming and milking cows, cooking, traveling and keeping up her yard, and riding her lawn mower.
She loved her family very much.
Survivors include two sons, James Penner of Fremont, Indiana, and Larry and Joann Penner of Fremont, Indiana; six grandchildren, Randy and Betty Penner, Scott and Dawn Penner, Kim and Stanley Michael, Sheryl Rakestraw and Sam Guthrie, John Penner, and Jennifer and Scott Mixer; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by his her husband; her parents; two brothers, Dean and Marlon Salsbury; and a daughter-in-law, Julie Penner.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Beams Funeral Home of Fremont, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, with Pastor Sam Hoffman officiating.
Burial will be at Ray-Covenanter Cemetery of Fremont, Indiana
Memorials may be made to the Ray-Covenanter Cemetery.
