

She was born in Richland Township, Steuben County, Indiana on August 4, 1926 to Ernest and Chloe (Kugler) Champion. They preceded her in death.
She married Gerald Nichols on October 16, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Phyllis worked at Moore Business Forms (RR Donnelly) in Angola, Indiana.
She previously lived in Fremont and Angola, Indiana, Wauseon, Toledo, and Cleveland, Ohio, and was formerly a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and still kept up with the Sunday newspaper and National Observer crossword puzzles, and she enjoyed reading. She always followed her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s pastimes and sporting events and was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Ft. Wayne Tin Caps.
Survivors include, her two daughters, Linda (Andy) D’Aloisio of Millsboro, Delaware. and Ronda Van Gompel of Fremont, Indiana., and two sons Rex Nichols of Garrett, Indiana and Kelly Nichols of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Six grandchildren, Karissa, Brian, Matt, Eric, Brenton, and Casey, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Victor Champion, and granddaughter, Pamela D’Aloisio.
Calling hours will be from 12:00 noon until 2 pm Monday, November 17, 2014 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.
Funeral Services will follow calling hours at 2 pm Monday, November 17, 2014 at Beams Funeral Home, with Rev. Darin Hendrey officiating.
Burial will be at Circle Hill Cemetery in Angola, Indiana.
Memorials are requested to the Fremont United Methodist Church, Sunday School Program.
