

Bob was born on June 4, 1932, in Orland, Indiana, to the late Herman and Francis (Kenter) Straw.
He graduated form Orland High School in 1950.
Bob entered the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for over 25 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant and retiring with honor.
Following his retirement, Bob continued his dedication to public service by working for the United States Postal Service for another 25 years.
Bob had a deep appreciation for history, especially his own family heritage. An avid historian of the Straw family, he spent many years researching the family tree. He also enjoyed collecting Civil War books alongside his sister Annabelle. In his spare time, Bob loved fishing, working on puzzles, and adding to his coin collection.
He was also preceded in death by his two daughters, Karla and Debra; and his siblings, Buster, Louie, Annabelle, Arden, Elaine, Norma, Marjorie, Frosty, and Gordon.
Bob is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who will remember him fondly.
Visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.
A Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 11 am Friday at Beams Funeral Home. Pastor Donna Holcomb will officiate the service.
Bob will be laid to rest following services at Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland, Indiana. Full military honors in recognition of Bob’s 25 years of dedicated service to the United States Air Force will be held at the graveside. The Orland American Legion Post 423 Color Guard will be in attendance to honor their fellow member.
