Robert Dale Fanning
November 1, 1925 – November 11, 2012

Robert D. Fanning, 87, of Angola died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at his home.
He had resided in Ohio and in Kendallville, Albion, Avilla and Golden Lake prior to moving to Angola.
Mr. Fanning attended Flint and Angola schools. He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII.
He was a member of the Orland American Legion Post # 423.
Mr. Fanning retired from Dana-Weatherhead in Angola. He was formerly a car salesman.
His hobbies included, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and he enjoyed all sports, especially basketball, football, baseball, and bull riding.
He was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Angola to Dale and Wildus (Dailey) Fanning.
Surviving are his companion of 20 years, Gladys Barron of Angola; four children, Al and Chrissy Fanning of Fremont, Lana Jo and Jack Jeffrey of Centreville, Mich., Debbie Ann and Wade Sturdivant of LaGrange and Shirley and Charlie Cameron of Angola; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Marcella Seavey, Maxine Woodworth, June Marks, Phyllis Lobbdel and Mary Lou Johnson; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Beams Funeral Home in Fremont.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Beams Funeral Home, with Pastor David Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Angola, with military committal services conducted by members of the Orland American Legion Post.
Memorials are to the Orland American Legion or to the donor’s choice.
