

She was born February 19, 1925, in Quincy, Illinois, to Mable and Fred Houser.
She and her beloved husband Howard owned and operated Mingus Market in Fremont for 25 years. She then worked in retail sales at the Prime Outlet Mall for 23 years.
She loved spending time with her family and was an unconditional supporter of her children and grandchildren. She was an incredible storyteller, sharing her stories with friends, family and new friends she would likely make on any given day. She had a passion for writing poetry, some of which have been copyrighted and a few even sent to the White House.
People and serving customers and sharing stories were some of Sally's greatest pleasures.
She is survived by her daughters, Barb (Bob) Gary and Phyllis (Craig) Fischer of Fremont, Connie (Jack) Billings of Fort Wayne, and son, Scott (Shelby) Mingus of Salem, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Terry Gary, Dude Gary, Tina Hantz, Mick Billings, James Foster, Tara Hoyer, Jackie Scheerer, Geoff Fisher, Grant Mingus and Morgan Mingus; 20 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene (Gerry) Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Howard; three sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Beam Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana. Burial will be in Ray Covenanter Cemetery, Clear Lake, Indiana.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at the funeral home.
Memorials are to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Steuben County Cancer Society or Cameron Home Healthcare and Hospice.
