Walter “Wally” Leuenberger, Jr., age 89, of Lake George, Fremont, Indiana, formerly of Woodburn, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Northern Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Angola, Indiana.
He was born on August 12, 1934 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Walter and Bonnie (Walker) Leuenberger.
Wally graduated from Monroeville High School in 1952.
He attended Indiana University and married the love of his life, Darlene “Dar” R. Bohnke on August 5, 1955. He later graduated from Indiana University Dental School in 1958.
Wally and Dar started his dental practice in July of 1958 in Woodburn, Indiana, where he retired after 41 years.
He loved his family, fishing, camping, sailing, traveling, and spending time on Lake George.
Survivors include his wife, Dar Leuenberger of Lake George, Fremont, Indiana, daughters, Laurel (Steve Youngblut) Leuenberger of Stonington, Illinois, Julie (Nick) Lenoci of Windemere, Florida, and Joni (Bryan) Keister of Fort Wayne, Indiana, grandchildren, Lauren (Ryan) Hawkins, Zachary Lenoci, and Alexa Lenoci, great-grandson, Charlie Hawkins, and sisters, Sharon Godfrey of Asheville, North Carolina, and Judy (Buck) Krieger of Valparaiso, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bonnie Leuenberger, and brother-in-law, Don Godfrey.
Visitation will be held from 2 pm until 4 pm Monday, August 12, 2024 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.
A Memorial Service will follow at 4 pm Monday, August 12, 2024 at Beams Funeral Home. Pastor Susannah Tulloch will officiate the service.
Burial will be at Jamestown Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana.
