

Donald E. Widman, 74, of Fremont died Friday, April 8, 2016 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1941 in Fremont, Ohio, the son of Clemens and Helen (Mehling) Widman. Don went on to graduate from St. Joseph High School in 1959 and worked locally for Howard Zink Corp., Eckrich, Lesher Printers and Ohio Department of Transportation. On September 22, 1962 he married Donna Kay Young at St. Joseph’s Church.
Don enjoyed hosting family gatherings at his home, spending time at his cottage on the lake and attending his grandchildren’s events. Upon his retirement he volunteered with local paper drives, the Soup Kitchen and delivered newspapers to the jail as part of the St. Vincent De Paul Ministry. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, the Eagles and Moose.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kay Widman of Fremont, OH; children Dana (Trisha) Widman of Clyde, OH; Dee (Derek) Montgomery of Peoria, IL; Kim (Jay) Bowers of Fremont, OH; Kevin (Deb) Widman of Findlay, OH; 9 grandchildren: Josh, Jeremy, Jordan, Cole, Emi, Garrett, Nathan, Neela and Sara; great-granddaughter Maci; siblings: Ted Widman, Sue Schmersal, Ruth Rich, Sr. Marietta [Margaret] Widman, S.N.D and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janet Billow and brother Ken Widman.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, Ohio 43420 followed by a 11:30 A.M. Memorial Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev.Chris Kardzis celebrating the mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
