
Elwood "Al" Shively, 95, of Fremont died Wednesday night at his residence. He was born November 4, 1916 in Shamokin, PA to the late Jacob and Katheryn (Krock) Shively. He entered the Army in 1943 during WWII and fought in the European Theatre and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Al and his wife, Iris Kirwen Shively, married on September 27, 1941 in Fremont. Al was a carpenter working out of the Carpenter's Union Local #2239/#744 and worked at his craft for many years. He loved fishing and spending time with his wonderful family.
He is survived by his children, Dennis (Ruth) Shively of Dublin, JoAnn (Harry) Zienta, Judi Forsythe, and Steven (Becky) Shively, all of Fremont; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Howard, Bill, and Russell Shively; sister, Florence Fisher; and grandson, Chad Sheets.
