Emma L. Genter, 79, of Columbus, Indiana, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan, passed from this life at 8:32 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. Mrs. Genter was born August 1, 1939, in Fremont, Ohio, the only daughter of Linus and Stella Miller Gabel. Mrs. Genter was raised in Fremont and married Donald P. Genter July 28, 1962 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was the valedictorian of St. Joseph High School in 1957 and was a graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio.

Mrs. Genter was a homemaker and a registered nurse. Mrs. Genter had a passion for music, especially singing. She enjoyed writing poetry, traveling, spending time with her family and socializing with her many friends.

Mrs. Genter is survived by her children, David (Michelle) Genter of Columbus, Indiana, Barbara (Kurt) Davis of New Baltimore, Michigan and Susan (Mike) Jones of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Sam and Ben Genter, Drake and Logan Davis and Tyler and Cameron Jones; brothers, Dr. Albert (Lucy) Gabel of Dublin, Ohio and Dr. James Gabel of Dayton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Betty Gabel of Fremont; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Mrs. Genter was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; and brothers, Bill and John Gabel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420, with an hour of visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Michael Roemmele will be officiating. Burial will follow at Ludwig cemetery, where Mrs. Genter will be laid to rest next to her husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Right to Life or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, Fremont, Ohio, has been entrusted with Mrs. Genter’s arrangements.

So sorry to hear of Emmy's pasting. Thru Betty I got to know Emmy as a kind caring person who truly wanted to keep people happy. I visited her twice at her apartment in Columbus, Indiana, and even went to the horse races with her. You have now gained your eternal rest Emmy.
