Ernestine Krzewinski, 93, of Fremont died early Sunday morning, April 21, 2013 at Countryside Continuing Care Center. She was born July 19, 1919 in Fremont, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Mange) Szanca. Ernestine was a 1937 graduate of Fremont Ross High. On July 19, 1941 she married Joseph Krzewinski at the former St. Casimir’s Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on October 12, 2009.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society, St. Joseph's Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and a member of the St. Casimir’s Altar Rosary Society and the St. Francis Society, where she decorated the church for the seasons. Mrs. Krzewinski enjoyed gardening and became an accredited judge for flower shows through the Ohio State University’s program. She held memberships with the Horizon Garden Club, Toledo Garden forum and the Fremont Area Artists and was a fabulous cook known for her soups and Golabki’s.
Ernestine was a proud Navy mother of three children and was former Commander of the Navy Mother’s Club #489, a position she held for numerous years.
Surviving are her children: Joe (Wilma) Krzewinski of Virgina, Robert (Sally) Krzewinski of Michigan and Barbara Krzewinski of Fremont; grandchildren, Joe (Theresa) Krzewinski and Jennifer Krzewinski; great-grandchildren, Kevin and Samantha McMahon; sister Jane Havens of Fremont. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Frances Osborn and infant brothers, Francis and Robert.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8P.M. at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, Ohio. Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Ken Lill officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
