Esther S. Barbour, 94, of Fremont died Saturday evening January 5, 2013 at her residence. She was born July 9, 1918 in Fremont, the daughter of Peter and Dorothea (Meyer) Ochs. On May 19, 1938, she married Sam F. Barbour; he preceded her in death January 30, 1992. Esther was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was active in the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament, the Rosary Society and the Marian Society. She also volunteered her time at Parkview Care Center and at St. Joseph and Sacred Heart cafeterias. Mrs. Barbour was owner and operator of “Esther’s Beauty Shop” for over 50 years. She was known for her homemade pies, being a die-hard Cleveland Indians fan and an avid pinochle player in the same card club for over 70 years.
Surviving are her sons: Rick (Kathy) Barbour, Bill (Susan) Barbour both of Fremont, OH; daughters: Margaret (George) Ward of Ann Arbor, MI; Pat (Rod) Cutcher of Fremont, OH; Sue (Damon) Cerrone of Manassas, VA; daughter-in-law Paula Barbour of Keego Harbor, MI; 15 grandchildren; 9 great –grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sam; son Kenneth Barbour; granddaughters Christine Ward, Kelly Cutcher and Sara Barbour; sister Norma Ochs and brother Richard Ochs.

Visitation will take place Friday, January 11, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, OH. Vigil services will begin on Friday evening at 7:30P.M. A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Zacharias officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will take place at St. Joseph Parish Hall immediately after interment. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Joseph Catholic Church, SJCC Catholic Education Development Fund, Hospice of Memorial Hospital or Memorial Home Health.
