

Jerome “Jerry” Frederick Freeh, 86, of Fremont, Ohio passed away on June 16th, 2016 surrounded by his wife, Rosalyn (Mosser) Freeh and his seven children and grandchildren. He was born July 7, 1929 in Fremont to the late Lawrence and Gertrude (Gabel) Freeh. He graduated from Fremont St. Joseph High School class of “47”and served in the Army during the Korean War where he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. After serving, he graduated with a business degree from Tiffin University and Ohio School of Banking. He was senior vice president of Fremont Savings Bank, manager of Key Bank and treasurer of Fremont City Council for over 32 years. Jerome had a deep love for people and community, and was committed to family, church, school, and his country. His passions included travel, music, aviation, history, and the jitterbug.
Jerry was a dedicated servant to the Fremont community. He was an active participant for a variety of organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Exchange Club, March of Dimes, YMCA Building Fund, American Cancer Society, SJCC Booster Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He was past president of the SJCC School Board and secretary of the Catholic Education Development Fund. Jerry was also a member of the St. Josephs Men’s and Symphony Choir, SJCC Alumni & Friends Association, St. Joseph Cemetery Board, Investment Advisory Committee for Sandusky County, Serra Club for Vocations, Camp Fire Board, Our Lady of the Pines Advisory Board, Fremont Beautification Commission, and a Meals on Wheels volunteer. He was a recipient of the Junior Chamber of Commerce Young Man of Year Award in 1962, Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award in 1989, and the 1999 SJCC Alumni Heritage Award.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosalyn (Mosser) Freeh, his children, Linda (Bill) Beier, Connie (John) Riley, Susan (Richard) Jenkins, Robert Freeh, Kenneth (Katie) Freeh, Matthew (Michelle) Freeh, & Ruthi (Christopher) McGarry, 19 Grandchildren, 23 Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jeanne Wade, Jim, Jack, and Joe.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm with a vigil service starting at 7:30pm at Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch St, Fremont, OH, 43420. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10:30am at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery where military graveside rights will be provided by the VFW and the American Legion. A time of fellowship will be held immediately after the burial at St. Joseph Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bishop Hoffman Schools or the charity of your choice.
