Joan E. Zimmerman

Joan E. Zimmerman, 83, of Fremont, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Countryside Care Center. She was born February 29, 1932 the daughter of Carl H. and Alma H. (Wahl) Timpe. After graduating from Fremont Ross in 1950 she went on to attend and graduate from the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Chicago, IL. Upon her return to Fremont she worked as the secretary for Zimmerman Paint Contractors. Joan was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and volunteered over 25 years to the Al-Anon Ministry. Although her dementia made it hard for her to remain active in the church on her own, Joan still continued to regularly receive communion.

Surviving are her children: Ed Zimmerman of Ithaca, NY; Dan (Susann Robitski) Zimmerman of Fremont, OH; Jill Zimmerman of Circleville, OH; Jack (Lorraine) Zimmerman of Port Clinton, OH; grandchildren: Steven (Gerulf Rieger) Zimmerman of Colchester, United Kingdom; Alyson Zimmerman of San Francisco, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Tommy and sister, Connie Abbott.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 3-6P.M. at Keller –Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, OH. Funeral services will begin at 10:30A.M. on Monday at the funeral home with Certified Celebrant Susann Robitski Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
