
Marguerite Holran Cheney Schrader, 89, died Tuesday, December 20th. She was born on April 11, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio to John B. and Doratha (Holran) Cheney (both deceased). At an early age the family moved to Ashville, North Carolina. Marguerite lived there until the age of 13 when she and her mother returned to Warren, Ohio. She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1941. During World War II Marguerite worked at the GE Lamp Works and Packard Electric. She married George J. Schrader II on October 11th, 1946. From that point she supported her family as homemaker in the best sense of the word. During the first 7 years of their marriage, George and Marguerite moved from Fort Wayne, Indiana to Kalamazoo, Michigan, then to St. Joseph, Michigan when George took employment with The Whirlpool Corporation.
In 1953 family moved to Fremont, Ohio being transferred with Whirlpool. They quickly integrated into the community that would be their home for the next 46 years. Marguerite was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she was a faithful volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her love for travel, which she did not get to enjoy often, took her to most areas of the United States, including Hawaii, and to Europe. She loved to do needlepoint and her home was filled with many beautiful works of her art. She also belonged to the S&B Sewing Club for many years. Marguerite also loved to read and belonged to book clubs.
In addition to her parents, Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband on December 15, 1999. She is survived by Lynn Schrader Joseph of Dalton, Georgia and Bruce G. Schrader (Lynn) of Fremont. She has four grandchildren; Keith G. Joseph of Bryan, Texas, Drew N. Joseph of Dalton, Georgia, George J Schrader III and Allison V. Schrader, both of Fremont, Ohio
Visitation will be Wednesday,December 28th from 11:00AM-1:00PM at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch St, Fremont. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheel of Memorial Hospital, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or Donor’s Choice.
