My husband Gene Smith then my mom, Margaret Atkins, were both former neighbors of Mary in her apartment building. Mary was a sweet lady who always gave our daughter, Bridget, a little bag of snacks when she spent the night with Mom and she and Dylan played together. Mom, Margaret broke her hip then had a heart attack and triple bypass last December and is residing in Bellevue Care Center. Mom wanted me to let you know she is saddened at Mary's passing and wishes she could be there. She has many great memories of time spent with Mary and meeting all of you at Mary's 90th birthday celebration. We are all praying for each of you during this time of grief and remember Mary as a sweet, kind lady.

Mary was the first resident I took care of when I started at Parkview care center 4 years ago. We immediately had a connection she always had a smile from the time she woke up in the morning until I said goodbye in the afternoon. She would always say “there’s no one like you Melissa “ and I would reply there will never ever be another Mary. She would reach for my had and pull it to her face and say you are always so warm and I would say you make me that way with your sweet heart . She then would give me that unforgetable smile once again you are truely my favorite grandma I love you Mary Perkins RIP pretty lady!!❤️

She was a wonderful and loving person. I have great memories of my visits with her in the 1980's when I was in Ohio.

I was Mary’s nurse at Parkview. It was impossible as a new employee 2 years ago to not fall in love with Mary. Every time I would work she would smile at me and say “good morning Mari”. She loved that we had the same name. She would ask me about the weather or how my kids were. When she didn’t feel good I would take time to sit with her and talk. My Dad passed away in April and the next day I came to tell her. She had sadness in her eyes but she said.... “you know he is better up there and he still is with you, when I get up there I will make sure to meet him and keep an eye on him until you are with him again” Mary could make anyone smile no matter how sad you were. RIP to this beautiful and amazing woman. Thank you for being not only my resident but one of my closest friends ❤️ From the bottom of my heart I wish the family of this extraordinary woman all of my sincerest sympathies and condolences as well as prayers during this difficult time, it was a pleasure to take care of her.
