Nellie Louise Preble
August 19, 1935 – July 23, 2018
Nellie Louise Preble, 82, of Fremont, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at Bethesda Care Center. She was born the daughter of Trent and Louise (Eldridge) Dickey on August 19, 1935 in Fremont, Ohio. Nellie was married to James L. Preble, Sr. for 52 years before his passing on December 12, 2012. Nellie is remembered as a fun-loving woman with a big heart, who always put others before herself. She was a volunteer at Fort Stephenson for many years where she called Bingo, and even went as far as secretly purchasing prizes for the winners. Her dedication did not go unrecognized and she was given a special honor by the community for her service over the years. Nellie also loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she found great joy in hosting and providing gifts for the family get-togethers every year. Nellie also enjoyed taking the family on annual camping trips to different states, which her boys fondly remember most from their childhood. She could always be found at Walmart socializing and shopping, which was one of her favorite pastimes. In addition, Nellie loved to collect bears, loved dogs, and enjoyed listening to country music. She also attended Grace Community Church, and rarely missed a Sunday if it could be helped.
Left to cherish her memory are her three sons; James L. (Julie Hammer) Preble, Jr., of Burgoon, OH, Thomas L. Preble of Risingsun, OH, Richard L. (Janet Kramer) Preble of Fremont, OH, grandchildren; James L. (Kristin Russo) Preble III, Tashia (Shane) Jordan, great-grandchildren; Gabrielle, Eliana, Ariyana, Nolan, and nephew; Mike Dickey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; James L. Preble, Sr., grandson; Daniel Preble, and brothers; Raymond and Thomas Dickey.
