Richard E. “Dick” Damschroder, 93, of Fremont, died Thursday morning, October 18, 2012 at Bethesda Care Center. He was born May 1, 1919 in Gibsonburg, OH, the son of Frederick and Nellie (Schwartz) Damschroder. Dick was employed by the Chrysler Corporation. Upon his retirement he moved to California with his wife Lameda “Johnny”. He enjoyed golfing, worked as a floral designer and enjoyed growing tomatoes. Dick will be remembered as a true gentleman, who loved to dance and listen to music especially Big Band. He was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Surviving is daughter- in-law; Laurie Damschroder of Detroit, MI; 2 granddaughters and several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, LuLu Damschroder of Fremont, OH; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Johnny; special friend, Violet Hurst; son Randy Lee Damschroder; brothers: Howard, Forest, Thomas, Wilson, Gene and sisters: Mildred, Leona and Irene.
Graveside services will take place at 1:00 P.M. Monday, October 22, 2012 at Elmore Cemetery with Pastor G. Alan Brown II, O.S.L., officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church or Donor’s Choice. Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, Fremont, OH was entrusted with the privilege of serving Dick’s family.
