

Richard “Dick” B. Walters, 83, of Vermilion, OH died Friday, April 22, 2016 at his residence. He was born October 18, 1932 in Gibsonburg, OH the son of Henry and Carrie (Ickes) Walters. Dick served as a Corporal in the United States Army from May 26, 1953 until May 25, 1955 stationed in Whittier, Alaska. He married Ruth Boss on October 15, 1955.Dick was owner and President of Fremont Boiler Works. He was a charter member of the Christian Missionary Alliance in Fremont, the Gideons and a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was an avid collector of antique cars and trucks, which were featured in “The Shawshank Redemption” and the “Hoffa” Movie where Dick and his son were also awarded the role of extras. He was a Regional Charter Member of the Ohio Vintage Chevy Club of America and Black Swamp ATHS.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Ruth Walters of Vermilion, OH; children: Beth Walters of Vermilion, OH; Timothy (Lilly) Walters of Fremont, OH; grandchildren: Lisa (Jake) Schneider, Erica (T.C.) Hoffman, Sonya (Andy) Wonderly, Jill and Leah Walters; 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Eric, granddaughter Christina Walters and siblings: Roma Springer, Morris Walters and Kathryn Weiker.
Visitation will take place Monday, April 25, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8P.M. at Keller- Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, Ohio.
Funeral Services will begin at 10:30A.M. on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Fremont Alliance Church, 936 North Brush Street, Fremont, Ohio where additional visitation will begin at 9:30A.M. Burial will follow at Washington Chapel Cemetery with military graveside rights performed by the V.F.W. and American Legion.
