Sara N. Rich, 92, died May 19, 2016 at her home. She was born April 5, 1924 in Fremont to the late Delbert and Mayme (Stebbins) Rearick. She married Jack Rich on June 23, 1945 and he preceded her in death on January 2, 2008. Surviving her are children Mike (Janet) Rich of Findlay, Victor (Laurie) Rich of Clyde, Steve Rich of Fremont, Mary (Dave) Gutschalk, John (Monica) Rich of Clyde, and Andy (June) Rich of Burgoon. She greatly loved her grandchildren, Veronica Gerwig, Eric Rich, Valerie Miller, Kristin Rich, Peter Gutschalk, Sara Thompson, Brenda Hamer, Kathy Fought, Ann Gutschalk, Terese Cline, Rebecca, Emily, Paul, Thomas, Lydia, Daniel, Joseph, and Abigail Rich. She was so happy to welcome each of her new great grandchildren, Meredith, Taylor, Hunter, Riley, Anaya, Kailyn, Ulric, Axel, David, and Alice.
She is preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, brothers, George Rearick and Al Beatty, and sister, Harriett Stahl.
Sara graduated from Ross High School in 1942, and worked as a secretary for 3 years before her marriage. She was a housewife until 1973 when she joined her husband at SunMart Realty as an office manager and real estate agent until their retirement in 1993. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a member of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament as well as the Rosary Society. Sara was an active volunteer in the community, and she often helped to clean the church, assisted with book sales at the Birchard Library, and worked at the election polls for several years. She and Jack also enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels together for 15 years for Memorial Hospital. In her retirement years, she and Jack enjoyed traveling and especially spending time with all the family.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 23, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. A Mass of Resurrection will take place Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Zacharias officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Central Catholic High School, the SJCC Music Boosters or to St. Joseph Parish.
