Thomas W. Spader, 81, of Fremont, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born September 5, 1935 in Randolph, Nebraska the son of Mathias and Martha (Gubbels) Spader. Tom was a veteran of the United States Army and went on to work as an accountant at Fremont Die Cut and Spader Freight Services. On November 24, 1956 he married Joan Bryant at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ludington, MI. They recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary on Thanksgiving with the company of their entire family. Tom was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, NRA and a lifelong member of the Eagles and Moose. He enjoyed golfing, traveling the United States and attending his grandchildren’s athletic events. As an avid reader, he enjoyed scouring local flea markets for Western Novels at a fair price and other treasures he acquired along the way. He also was fond of fishing, hunting and family gatherings. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Joan Spader of Fremont, children: Steven (Sherri) Spader of Tiffin, OH; David (Jean) Spader, Laura (Jim) Mills, John (Lisa) Spader and Pamela (Victor) Hines all of Fremont, OH; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Melvin and Robert Spader. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Louise, Marcella, Bernice, Fred, Alvin, George and Edward. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8P.M. at Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, OH. A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:30A.M. on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with additional visitation beginning at 10:30A.M. until the time of service. Rev. Chris Kardzis will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military graveside rights performed by the V.F.W. and American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Promedica Hospice of Fremont or Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools. I am very sorry to learn of Tom's passing. I worked with Tom at DPI, FSMCI and FBC over the years back in the 1980s. He was a nice man with a quiet sense of humor. RIP Tom and my condolences to your family.
