Willah Jane Gamertsfelder Yambert, 94 of Fremont, OH formerly of Burgoon, OH passed away June 29, 2018 at her home. She was born May 13, 1924 in Jackson Township to Carl and Bessie (Pence) Mitchell. She was a resident of Jackson Township for more than 80 years. Jane was the the youngest of four sisters, Bernice, Helen, Rosetta and a brother Roy, all of whom preceded her in death. She was a 1942 graduate of Jackson Burgoon School. She married Owen Gamertsfelder February 10, 1947; he preceded her in death September 15, 1972. Together they had five children; David(Shirley Shane) of Florida; Dennis (Paula) of Fremont, Sally Kato (Fred Stenhauser) of Burgoon; Don (Brenda) of Bettsville; Jon (Joyce) of Hudson, OH; grandchildren: Jolene, Cory, Valerie, Jay, Amy, Aaron, Amanda, Codie, Jenny and Jake; 6 great-grandchildren. Her son David preceded her in death in November of 2000.
She later married Don Yambert on January 3, 1983. He passed away June 11, 2017.
She enjoyed the time spent at their cottage in Lakeside. Willah Jane was a homemaker and for years, the Avon Lady. She worked at the Winesburg Inn and Brush Wellman. She retired from Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria after 10 years. In her retirement, she was the sole proprietor of Alley Antiques and Uniques , Lakeside, OH. Willah Jane and Don also had a booth at Jeffrey’s Antique Mall in Findlay, OH. She enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques. She was especially proud of her collection of purses. Willah Jane was a lover of music; she never missed the Lawrence Welk program and often sang with her sisters at church and community events. She was a life-long and active member of the Burgoon United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and at one time directed the Junior Choir. She even shared a moment of stardom when she had the opportunity to sing with Don McNeill on The Breakfast Club Radio Show in Chicago.
Willah Jane had many talents. She could bake a pie like none other. She was a phenomenal cook, who ensured that no one left her table hungry. Her biggest gift of all was her faith in God. Her kind and grateful heart touched everyone she met. Even in her illness when she couldn’t speak she sang, “Take the name of Jesus with you.”
