We have so appreciated everything that Adelina was as a neighbor to not just Jack’s family but to ours as we recently lived there too.  Thank you for sharing your delicious persimmon baked goods with us all over the years and for bringing our daughter Mrs. Ruggles as a teacher at Gibson.   May Adelina and Edna now be neighbors once again. 

Auntie Pano has done so much for our family.  When my dad first arrived in the U.S., he lived with Auntie and Uncle Eli.  Auntie was beneficial in helping dad get his US citizenship and he was able to petition to have the rest of his family to come to the US.  Once in the States, I remember spending every weekend with our two families blending together.  Mom and Auntie both had 6 children each, 3 boys and 3girls.  All the found memories, family traditions and family gatherings will always be in my heart.  The Sunday mahjong games, the Filipino food and the late night talks…these are the things that build a strong bond between families.  
Auntie was strong, stern, and wise…she will give you her advice or opinion whether you ask for it or not, but it is always in your best interest. I’ sure she will be expressing to God a couple advice on how to do things better! Haha!
My mother, Virginia, and Auntie were best of friends, they loved spending time together; they made sure they kept in touch and spend their yearly vacations together; it was always hard on my mom when Auntie would return to California...but they are all together now with Lolo B, Lola P, Lola Berta, Dad, Uncle Eli, Uncle Romie, Eddie and Elimar. The party continues…

Eternal rest grant unto them O, Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.  May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen


The following is an obituary prepared by the family:

Adelina A. Pano passed away August 24, 2020.  Adelina was born in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.  She is predeceased by her husband, Eliseo S. Pano, M.D., her parents Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin M. Antonio, and her eldest two boys Eliseo and Edgardo Pano.
 
Adelina was a school teacher having taught at the University of the East Laboratory School in Manila, Philippines, St. Felicitas Catholic School in Cleveland, Ohio, and Wolters Elementary School in Fresno, California.
 
Adelina is survived by her daughters Alice Turner & her husband Jake, Abigail Hall & her husband Ray, and Arlene Boyles & her husband Richard, as well as her son Edwin Pano & his wife Peggy, and her grandchildren Ben Betita, John Rivera, Jake Rivera, Caitlin Erickson, Samantha Lambert, Amber & Richard Boyles, Elisea Lofy, Stephanie Brinkman, and Christina, Thomas, & Jeffrey Pano, Jason & Brandon Pano, and Edgardo Jr. Pano.
 
Recitation of the Rosary will be at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel on September 3, 2020 at 3pm.
 
Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on September 4, 2020 at 9am.  Private interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Mom and Auntie were very good friends.  Auntie's visits were full of  days playing Mahjong and cooking up delicious foods.
 We laughed, cheated and tried to see who could win the most pennies playing with those ivory blocks.  Even Lola Berta had to get in on the action.
The smell in the kitchen were unforgettable when  mom, Auntie and Lola would cook up beer ox, siopao,  pancit,  peach crisp, gentleman's cake and/or apple crisp which were among my favorites.  Even my son Brian has such fond memories that to this day he loves to cook Filipino recipes.  
In the past, Auntie would thoughtfully mail boxes of persimmons from her tree.  These delicacies were sweeter than any I could buy from the store.
Rest in peace Auntie.   God Bless you.  You left loving footprints in our hearts.
