Mary Aileen Stone was born on December 11, 1946, and passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2025, at the age of 78 in Clovis, California. Aileen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and cherished friend. She is survived by her spouse, John W. Stone of almost 60 years, her children Mark Stone and Debra Wilson, grandchildren Ashley and Andrew Wilson, sister Saundra Grandeer, niece Dorothy Bashaw, and stepmom Sammie Boehmer. She was preceded in death by her parents Warren C. Boehmer and Anna B. Stricker, and brother Allen Boehmer.
Aileen lived her entire life in the Fresno area. She always said that she had the most amazing childhood, growing up with loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She graduated from Fresno High School and attended Fresno City College. On December 10, 1965, she married the love of her life, and together they raised their two children, Debra and Mark, in Clovis.
Aileen worked in Collections at Montgomery Wards and Data Central, then later joined Fresno County as a Social Services secretary, where she served for over 25 years. She was an exceptionally fast typist, and her gift for words shone through in her love for word games.
Aileen’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends - playing games, going to concerts and movies, enjoying a meal, sharing laughter, and traveling to the ocean and mountains. Aileen loved reading to her grandchildren when they were young, and she especially loved reading adventures and biographies. She loved to laugh and had a warm sense of humor that brought comfort and smiles to those around her. She took great joy in researching family ancestry, decorating her home, and had a special bond with her dogs, who adored her in return. She even helped deliver a litter of grand-puppies. Aileen was easy to love—kind, generous, compassionate, and funny.
Aileen was a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and had a deep love for her Lord, Jesus Christ. Thank you to the beautiful care providers at the Community Cancer Institute, Clovis Community Medical, and both Compassion Care and Hinds Hospices. Aileen’s caring, loving, and radiant soul will continue to shine through all those who knew and loved her.
