He enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and was stationed in Ft. Eustace, VA. On his return, he met and married, Moira O'Neil, and began his family. He had a strong business sense and an even stronger belief in the revitalization of Downtown Fresno, serving on the Property Business Improvement District committee.
Al was a devoted husband and father who had boundless energy and optimism. He was a generous man who mentored many people during his career and served his church, St. Paul Newman Center, with his many talents and skills. Finally, as leukemia and its treatment overtook his body, he served as a model of strength and inspiration to all who knew him. He died peaceably surrounded by his immediate family.
Al is survived by his wife of 45 years, Moira; his son, Brian and his partner Tom DeBay; daughter, Gail and her husband Dan Ramirez and their children Ben and Sarah.
