

He was born March 7, 1921, in Ogallala, Ne. to Tom and Matilda (Oldenberg) Harwig. He was raised in Eads, Co. and graduated in the class of 1939. He enjoyed going to those wonderful all-class reunions. He was a World War II Veteran, serving four years in the United States Army Air Force Base Unit. He retired in 1993 from United Grocers in Fresno.
After meeting Ruby at a single's square dance, they were married in 1968. After retirement, they danced and toured the United States in their RV. He loved all of his relatives dearly and enjoyed visiting with them when he could.
We want to thank Elem Gardens and Serenity Living for their wonderful care of him! He loved each place as if it were his home. Also, we appreciate all his friends and family that took the time to visit or call him on a regular basis such as Dixie and Kristen West, Michelle Dorren, Kathy Brunell, Tom Williams, and Connie Haines.
He is preceded in death by Ruby, the love of his life; his sister, Rosamond Pollreis; his two brothers, Paul and Lawrence; and lastly, his beloved nephew Gene.
Albert is survived by his sister-in-law, Bea of Kit Carson, Co.; his stepdaughter, Claudie Parrish and her husband Phil, of Fresno; and daughter Brenda. He was very fond of his numerous nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 11:00 a.m.
