On Monday, May 11, 2026, Alice (affectionately known as "Babe" by her family and friends) at the age of 94, left this world to meet the Lord to whom she spent here lifetime in preparation.
Alice was born in Adams County, PA on April 26th, 1932, as 1 of 11 children to the late George V. and Violet (Topper) Smith. She is survived by her sisters: Joan "Skip" Gebhart, and Doris "Dot" Busbey; her brother Harold Paul Smith. She was preceded in death by her sisters Annie Smith, Mildred Neiderer, Gladys Felix and Helen Little; and her brothers John Smith, Charles "Mike" Smith, and Claude Smith.
Together with her loving husband, the late Nelson J. Weaver who passed away at the age of 44, they shared 23 years of marriage and are now survived by their 5 children; Eric J. Weaver of Fresno, CA, Tim A. Weaver and wife Anita of Fresno, CA, Randy N. Weaver of Madera, CA, Lois V. Sturgill and husband S Jay Sturgill of Clovis, CA, and Lynn A. Sihota of Fresno, CA. They are both survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The Weaver family originated in Pennsylvania and because of Nelson's work, they moved to several states along the east as far as Alabama then settled in Fresno, CA in 1966. When Leukemia struck her husband in 1972, Alice became a young widow now not only a loving mother, but a tough dad who gave everything, heart and soul to provide for her children the opportunity for a good life that she never had. She worked as a clerk at Fresno Ag Hardware for several years, before becoming an Officer at Weaver Industries, Inc. and eventually Owner/President of ALW Enterprises, Inc. her family business, until her passing.
Knowing Alice as "Babe" was to understand her not as someone indulged by appearances or self-gaining goals, but by realization of her intangible legacy earned by years of dedication, sacrifice, faith, and unconditional love for her family and friends. Babe was know to be a "tough cookie" however, not to be forgotten for her passion for cooking.
