Ann Centrella passed away peacefully on January 3, 2013. She was born in New Jersey in 1923 to Giuseppe and Margarett Panzarino. While growing up she visited Bari, Italy, where her parents came from, and she loved the sea air and the mountains there. She loved New York and would visit frequently, often going to shows and dances. She met the love of her life, Michael, while they were in grade school and they were inseparable until his death after 40 years of marriage. They were truly childhood sweethearts. They moved to California with their three children and parents and settled in Fresno where the climate was similar to Bari's.
She enjoyed gardening and sewing, and at one time had over ninety varieties of roses. She was energetic and loved to be active playing bocce ball and bowling. Ann was full of life, always ready for a good time, whether it be her memorable new Year's Eve
parties or the family dinners and game nights she and Michael would host. She loved the sea coast whether it was visiting the family beach in NJ, the rugged New England coast lighthouses, or the Pacific coast. San Francisco was like a second home to her, and she visited it often. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.Ann is survived by her children: Ricci Centrella-Hooper and spouse David, Margarett Centrella, and Alex Centrella; three grandchildren, Michelle Graceffa and husband Salvatore, Stefani Hooper and partner Joy Johnson, and Alexis Centrella;
and three great grandchildren, Rocco Giuseppe and Josephina Palma Graceffa, and Charles David Hooper.
