

He graduated from Central Union High School in 1942 and worked for Standard Oil for five months before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he was commissioned as a second lieutenant. Tony flew eight combat missions as a bombardier on missions to Iwo Jima, Haha-jima, and Chichi-jima. He separated from the service in 1946, and served in the reserve until 1961 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
Tony was highly decorated for his service, receiving an Air Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with three Bronze Stars and the WWII Victory Medal.
After the war, Tony fell in love and married Diana Lubisich in 1948. He returned to farming, started a family and actively farmed until the day of his death, August 11, 2011. This was not only his vocation, but also his avocation.
Tony was a lifetime member of Bombardiers, Inc. and the 30th Bomb Group Association. He was a member of the California Farm Bureau, a long-time member of Sun-Maid, and served for seven years on the board of directors of Blue Anchor, Inc. He was also a proud member of the Fresno Croatian Fraternal Union and the All Slavonic-American Association.
He was a dedicated family man, a cancer survivor, an exemplary farmer and extremely generous to all.
His beloved wife, Diana, predeceased Tony.
He is survived by his sons Alan and his wife, Jacquie and Anthony, Jr. and his wife Amy; grandchildren, Andrew, Chris, Alan, Alison, Paul, Caroline, Nick, Lauren; step-grandchildren, Geoff and Elizabeth; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Marion Cubre and numerous relatives whom he dearly loved.
