Antonio Fernandez Ortiz

May 20, 1934 – August 12, 2020
Obituary of Antonio Fernandez Ortiz
IN THE CARE OF

Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home

Anthony F. Ortiz went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at the age of 86. He was surrounded by his loving Wife and family where they’ve lived for the past 45 years.

Anthony was born on May 20, 1934 in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico. He truly lived the American Dream. He came to the United States at the age of 17, joined the Army in 1957, where he met his lifelong partner Jennie. They were married for 61 years and had 4 children. Anthony got a job, bought a home in Fresno and later moved to Clovis. He worked forty years for the Coca Cola Bottling Company, and shortly before retiring he became a US citizen. He was proud to be an American.

The beautiful part of his long life was having the opportunity to be involved in his kid’s life through coaching and watching them play baseball, football and soccer. He spoiled his grandkids and watched them participate in various sports and theater performances. There is record of him attending 7 games in multiple cities all in one day.

Anthony demonstrated a strong work ethic throughout his entire life. The words Giver, Loyal, Man of his Word, and a Man of Integrity, best describe this man who was known as “Dadi” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dadi had a way of making friends with all of those he met.

Anthony is survived by his wife Jennie, daughter Irene and husband Ed; son Michael and wife Tamie ; daughter Martha and husband Ron; son Frank and wife Michelle; his 27 grandchildren including spouses of grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren plus Dr. Tricia Taylor, (Tamie’s sister who he treated as a member of his family).

Please join us as we celebrate and honor Anthony’s life at an outdoor Mass and Rosary on Thursday, August 20, at 8:30 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 929 Harvard Ave. in Clovis CA.
