Arlie Ray Woods 80, of Reedley, entered his eternal rest on Saturday, July 27th at 1:30 AM in Fresno, California. Arlie was born to Robert Claud Woods (“Woody”) and Grace May Cole in Fresno, California, on April 18, 1944.
Arlie, the youngest among his siblings Mildred Jordan, Ray Snow, and Betty Breeding, attended schools in Fresno and graduated from Central Union High School in 1962. After receiving his high school diploma, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During a visit home, he met his future wife, Alana Pauline Scrivner. Arlie served in the Air Force from July of 1962, until January of 1966. During his time in the military, he traveled the world and worked as a chef on a military boat. Through regular letter exchanges and visits, Arlie and Alana maintained a close relationship, nurturing their hopes for a wonderful life together.
Their efforts proved to be successful, because the two were married shortly after Arlie was honorably discharged from the military. Arlie and Alana got married on April 9, 1966, in Fresno at the First Southern Baptist Church (Highway City), surrounded by family and friends. In 1967, he began his 40-year career with General Telephone and Electrics (GT&E) in Sacramento, California. Arlie worked as a Lineman in construction his entire career and retired from there in 2007. To say he was loyal, is an understatement!
They welcomed their first son, Robert Keith Woods on September 23, 1967, while living in Sacramento. After making Reedley their home in 1970, they welcomed a second son, Craig Andrew Woods on January 12, 1971, and finally their baby girl, Kimberly Denise Woods on May 26, 1976. Arlie and Alana were fortunate to have shared a life filled with love and faith for an impressive 54 years, reaching this milestone just before Alana's sudden passing in 2020.
Arlie leaves behind his three children, Robert (Holly) Woods and their children Marisa, Wyatt, Katie, and Alan. Craig (Michelle) Woods and their children, Tobias, Mason, Cody and Jaxson. Kim (Rufus) Santana and their son, Greyson. Arlie also leaves a niece, Carla Dauer and Janis Stedman, nephews, Rusty, Ricky, Randy and Dennis Snow and many loving friends.
Arlie will forever be missed and remembered as a cherished Son, Brother, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and provider.
Graveside services will be held at noon on August 1, 2024, at Belmont Memorial Park in Fresno.
