Fresno, California - Barbara Jean Eaton, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, artist, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on January 21, 1927, in Fresno, Barbara spent her entire life in Fresno County focused on family, friendships, creativity, and jobs that she loved.
Barbara was the only child of Arthur and Lucille Danks.
She attended John Muir Elementary School, Hamilton Junior High School, and Fresno High School. While attending Reedley College, she met Kenneth F. Bondurant, her first husband. Later, she married Dean Eaton. Both husbands preceded her in death.
Barbara devoted much of her life to caring for others and serving her community. For 11 years, she was a Blue Bird, Camp Fire Girl and Horizon Club leader for her daughter Jennifer’s groups, creating meaningful experiences and lasting memories for many young girls and their families. Barbara worked early in her career at Bisceglia Brothers Wine Co. in Fresno. She loved working there and spoke about her time at the company with fond memories. She also worked for many years with H.J. School Services, helping create school pictures, yearbooks, and class rings for students throughout the local area. Barbara also shared her artistic talents as a makeup artist for the Fresno Community Theater.
A gifted artist like her father, Barbara created many beautiful paintings throughout her life. She also loved crafting and treasured time spent with friends at Smith River, where they often celebrated their tradition of “Christmas in July.” Quartzsite, Arizona was another favorite vacation destination, where the desert was transformed into a huge marketplace and swap meet.
Barbara and Dean made their home in Sanger, California, where together they farmed 20 acres of wine and raisin grapes for 36 years.
Barbara will be remembered as hardworking, patient, understanding, and endlessly helpful. She had a wonderful sense of humor, gave thoughtful advice, and was known as an excellent cook. Her laughter, warmth, and conversations brought joy to all who knew her, and her family will forever treasure the many happy moments they shared with her.
Barbara is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Campopiano - son-in-law, Bruce and Jeffrey Bondurant - daughter-in-law, Denise; her stepsons, Ronald Eaton and Dennis Eaton - daughter-in-law, Barbara. She is also survived by one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lucille Danks; her aunt, Mary Ellen Danks Lee; her first husband, Kenneth F. Bondurant and her second husband, V. Dean Eaton.
The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice for their care of Barbara in her final days.
A graveside service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park on Tuesday, June 9, at 11:00 a.m.
Barbara’s life was a beautiful example of kindness, dedication, creativity, and love for family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
