Barbara Jean Martens

Barbara was born on December 13, 1934, in Dinuba, California. She married her Immanuel High School sweetheart, William “Bill” Martens, Jr., and together they shared 68 years of marriage before his passing in 2023. They were together at the care home during their final years.

Barbara and Bill were the parents of two sons: Keith Martens (Joan Heinrichs Martens) of Fresno, CA, and Bruce Martens (Patricia Heyerly Martens) of Madras, OR. She was a loving grandmother to Lindsey (Martens) Charest (Ross Charest) and Landon Martens, both of San Diego, CA. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of three great-grandchildren—Rosie (6), Tommy (4), and Rocky (1) Charest—who brought her tremendous delight in her later years.

Barbara will be remembered for her sweet gentle spirit, unwavering love and service to her family, and quiet strength. Her life was marked by kindness, servanthood, and a deep trust in the Lord, qualities that shaped not only her home but the lives of those around her. Her faithful service and loving support made it possible for others to succeed and ministries to flourish.

A service will be held to honor her life and legacy at 11:00am on August 30, 2025 at the Whitehurst Chapel in Fresno, CA.
