Benny passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013. He was surrounded by his loved ones as he left us to be with God. Benny was born in Artesia, Nm. on October 13, 1943 to Merced and Helen Martinez. He proudly served in the United States Army and fought in Police Action. In 1988, he received the Presidential award, The Thousand Points of Light for his community service.
Benny was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Matta Martinez.
Benny is survived by his two daughters, Yvonne Martinez and Rochelle Cantu; his granddaughter, Reese Cantu; and his devoted companion, Gloria Renteria.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary Queen of Apostle Catholic Church on Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary and 6:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Queen of Apostles Catholic Church on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 11:00 am.
