

Betty was born Oct 25, 1929 in Fresno, CA the third daughter of J. Peter Krum and Marie Kerber Krum. She was sister to Elma Krum Arndt (deceased), Esther Krum Seib (deceased), and Doris Krum Winters. She and her sisters were first generation American. Her parents were Volga German immigrants from Russia, a heritage that Betty was proud of and held dear.
Betty grew up in German town in Fresno and attended and graduated from Edison High School in 1947. Upon graduating she joined the workforce. Most notable places of employment were secretary to the president of Coffee’s Dept Stores, office manager at Banker’s Life Insurance, and Admin/Bkpr at Belmont Memorial Park from which she retired at 80 years old.
Betty married Henry “Eddie” Brase (deceased) in 1950 and became instant step mom to Richard Brase. Eddie and Betty would have three more children, Stanley Brase, Bradley Brase, and Mary Brase Millar. Betty was also long time companion to William “Joe” Dorris (deceased). Betty loved visiting with and cooking for her family. Every gathering was always surrounded around a well planned and prepared meal!
Betty loved gardening, cooking, baking, bowling, and entertaining her family. In her younger days Betty was also quite the seamstress making many of her own clothes and those of her daughter, and entering them in club fashion shows. She was involved with the Edison Social Club and the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. And, for over 25 years Betty and Joe were in a Monday night bowling league. She also loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
Betty is survived by her son Richard Brase, his wife Marlina and her grandsons Ricky Brase and Scott Brase; son Stanley Brase, his wife Elena, her grandchildren Jenny Brase Jowdy and husband Casey, and Ryan Brase and wife Katrice; her son Bradley Brase , and his wife Janice and her grandchildren Megan Brase Logan and husband Eric, Michelle Brase Gideon and her husband Zach, Jason Brase and his wife Kate, Logan Brase and his wife Erica, Michael Brase and his wife Paige, Brenna Brase Burrows and her husband Ashton, and Jacob Brase and his wife Cassey; daughter Mary Brase Millar, and her husband Bob Millar and her grandchildren Matt Millar and his wife Kathy Lee, Jane Millar and Molly Millar; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her youngest sister Doris Winters and sister-in-law Bernice Dixon and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. She was a caring individual. The best Mom and Grandma ever!
A funeral service for Betty will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel, 202 N Teilman Ave, Fresno, California 93706. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the capacity of the funeral service will be controlled.
