Bradley “Brad” Hayes was born on December 2, 1947, in Clovis, California. A devoted husband, father, and family man, Brad dedicated his life to loving and supporting his wife and raising their two daughters. He was married to the love of his life for 55 wonderful years, and now joins her in heaven, reunited once more.
Brad had a long and successful career with Pacific Bell Telephone Company. He began in the mailroom, worked his way up as a splicer, and eventually retired from a position in management. Brad was known as a dedicated, hard-working, and respected co-worker and boss. He built lasting friendships at Pacific Bell, many of whom became like family.
Though Brad was a quiet man, he came alive after a few beers—always quick with a smile, and always a good sport. He was especially known for his unwavering support of his wife’s creative Halloween antics, whether it meant being wrapped up like a mummy or helping carve a hundred pumpkins—he was always there, wholeheartedly. Brad could fix just about anything and was truly a man of many trades. His quiet strength, steady presence, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Brad's love of reading began early, nurtured by bedtime stories from his mother and a towering stack of superhero comics. His sisters, Pam and Cheryl, fondly recall him reading for hours, sunflower seeds in a pie tin on his chest and a Coke by his side—a familiar sight in their home. In later years, he continued his passion through blogging and connecting with people around the world. His sisters remember him with deep love and his favorite reminder: "Just remember who paved the way for you two girls. I took all the flack from Mom and Dad so you had it easy."
Brad was the very definition of fatherhood. He supported his daughters in many of their crazy antics and, with a knowing smile, would often remind them that they wouldn’t have gotten away with half of it if they were boys. As a grandfather, he passed on his love for the outdoors, teaching his grandkids how to shoot and fish, sharing his skills and stories with the next generation.
He is survived by his sisters, Pam Pettice and Cheryl Fugelsang, and her spouse, Paul Fugelsang; his children, Kristina Hayes and her spouse, JP Maroot, and Katie Davis and her spouse, Brandon Davis; his grandchildren, Jeremy Eurgubian and Collin Eurgubian; and a bonus grandchild, Ryden Maroot. He was predeceased by his spouse, Evelynne Hayes, and his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Muriel Hayes.
Brad will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of hard work, kindness and integrity will live on in the hearts of many.
