Cam Haw Don, mother, friend, business woman, and avid lifelong learner, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, in Fresno, CA, at the age of 95. Born in Madera, CA, on September 6, 1920, she was blessed to be one of three brothers, two sisters, two half-brothers, and two half-sisters.
After losing her mother at the age of eight, Cam helped raise her two younger brothers while the family worked long days on the vegetable farm. She was passionate about her faith, family, friends, culture, education, and "rooting for the underdog." Alongside her husband, she co-owned and managed Every- body's Market for over ten years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Quong, her life partner for 70 years.
She is survived by her step-mother and friend, Wah Gong of Fresno; sister, Merry Loo of Hanford; and siblings, Sylvia Chinn, James Gong, and Kathy Ishimoto of Fresno; and many nieces and nephews. She is proudly survived by her daughters and their spouses, Nanci and Michael Jan of Sacramento, Joy and Phillip Wong of Boston, Andrea and Verne Jung of Bakersfield, Lou Rena and Edwin Lee of Fresno, Celeese and Wayne Kai of Reedley, and Eujania Don of Fresno; ten enjoyable grandchildren; and 18 spunky great-grandchildren.
Cam counted among many of her blessings her friendships at The Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens where she resided for the last six years of her life. She appreciated the caring service and genuine relationships she formed with both her neighbors and team members.
