

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Onesimo and Carmen P. Negrete; her six brothers, O. Alfred Negrete, Louie Negrete, John Negrete, Demetrio R. Negrete, Raymond Negrete and Jess Negrete; four sisters, Mary Jackson, Andrea Perez, Marie Gomez and Esther Padilla; as well as 3 nephews and a niece.
Carmen is survived by her sister Stella Jauregui of Fresno and by 33 nephews and nieces.
Carmen graduated from Washington Union High School and Fresno City College. She retired from Fresno County after 25 years of service, most recently from the Public Health Department.
Carmen was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, a lifelong member of the church choir, past member of the parish council, served as Eucharistic Minister for homebound parishioners and was a member of FACT, a church based community organizing program.
Carmen’s passion was singing; she participated in musicals/opera productions such as the The Sound of Music, The Opera Carmen and La Boheme. She also was part of the Fresno Christmas Chorale.
Carmen donated many hours of volunteer work for California Transplant Donor Network with her sister Esther, as well as for a social service agency.
Carmen will be remembered for her extreme generosity, especially to her family, friends and church.
