

Carmen was born in Fresno, CA on January 25, 1921. She graduated from Fresno Technical High School in 1939 and married Emil J. Torres on September 1, 1940.
She worked as a salesperson at the National Dollar Store and, alongside her husband, managed The Rainbow Ballroom for over twenty years.
She enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays with her family, and always sparked a humorous and unexpected moment.
She was extremely fond of all desserts, especially pumpkin pie, and her own homemade enchiladas.
Carmen loved being a grandma and a great-grandma and even gave herself the name “GG.”
Carmen was a world traveler, visiting places such as Spain, Mexico, Italy, France, and Canada. She also traveled domestically from the West Coast to the East Coast, including stops in Alaska and Hawaii.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Marie Lozano; her husband, Emil; daughter, Margot; sister Minerva Juarez; and stepsisters Mariann Ramirez and Angie Monroy.
She will be missed by her sister, Lydia Martinez; stepbrothers, Charlie and Rudy Castillo;
daughter, Gloria Coffland; son, Emil J. Torres, Jr. and his wife, Donna;
grandchildren Jacqueline Coffland, Lawrence Coffland, Mindy Torres, and Nicole Torres;
and great-granddaughter, Andrea Coffland.
A Visitation for Carmen will be held Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720.
A Rosary Service will occur Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720.
A Graveside Service will occur Friday, October 21, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 N. Teilman Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
